As you probably know redhat released version 9 of its distro.
I read from http://www.redhat.com/software/linux/technical/packages.html
that it comes once again with 2.0.40 and php 4.2.2.
Not even 4.2.3. I don't know if they have included CVS code in their
release to fix the bugs that 4.2.3 fixes.
It has been noted before that apache 2.0.40 and php 4.2.x is not a very
stable combination.
For once more they don't offer apache 1.3.x packages....
Maybe they have tested apache 2 with php 4.2.2 and they find that it is
very stable.
Can you guys confirm this if you have ever worked with redhat 8/9?
Apart from that it seems that their version came out the worst moment
ever...
They have already released errata for sendmail and samba.
So far I am reading that it isn't really a must upgrade since it offers
mostly graphical improvements and nothing exciting.

P.S.
I installed redhat 8 and tried to use apache toolbox to compile apache
1.3 with php and mssql+odbc support but failed.
http://rpms.arvin.dk used to offer a very good
"scalable" rpm-based
solution but it seems like he has abandonded it.
If anybody has a good similar solution please let me know (remember I
need mssql and odbc support)...
Otherwise I will try apachetoolbox again.
