I have wrote the following text, assuming the approach would be that the
PHP.net webmasters decide of the indexing options, so all what the mirror
hosters need to do is retrieve the configuration files from www.php.net,
and just change the spidering address to their own mirror. Would be happy
to hear suggestions/ideas... :)

Note: The shell prompt is denoted by the % sign in this document. It might differ on
---- different operating systems. This document assumes a GNU compliant OS.
1. Go to the directory where you will be putting all the temporary installation files.
for example:
% cd /tmp
2. Download the latest mnogosearch pacakge from http://www.mnogosearch.com/download.html.
At the time of writing these lines, this could be done by the following command:
% wget http://www.mnogosearch.com/Download/mnogosearch-3.2.10.tar.gz
3. Unpack the downloaded archive:
% gunzip mnogosearch-3.2.10.tar.gz
% tar -xvf mnogosearch-3.2.10.tar
4. Change directory into the newly opened archive:
% cd mnogosearch-3.2.10
5. Run the "configure" script that sets the software's options:
% ./configure --with-built-in
Additional options you might want to include in the configure options:
You may choose to include further support for other databases that you might have.
To do so, add --with-DBTYPE - where DBTYPE can be: mysql, pgsql, msql, iodbc, unixODBC,
db2, solid, openlink, easysoft, sapdb, ibase, ctlib, freedts, oracle7, oracle8, oracle8i.
You may also choose to include further support for non-english character sets.
To do so, add --with-extra-charsets=CHARSET,CHARSET - as much charsets that you like.
You can add support for all supported charsets that the software supports by using:
--with-extra-charsets=all
If you want support for HTTPS sites, add --with-openssl, and if you want support for
downloading data in compressed mode (if the servers support it) - add --with-zlib
6. If you haven't done it yet, switch to the super-user now:
% su
7. Now, compile the program and install it in /usr/local/mnogosearch :
% make install
8. Change to the mnoGoSearch configuration directory:
% /usr/local/mnogosearch/etc
9. Download the php.net configuration files:
% wget http://www.php.net/mnogosearch/indexer.conf
% wget http://www.php.net/mnogosearch/searchd.conf
% wget http://www.php.net/mnogosearch/search.htm
% wget http://www.php.net/mnogosearch/stopwords.conf
10. Now edit the file indexer.conf and find the "Server" directive.
Change it from http://www.php.net/ to your mirror's
address,
and change the file path to your mirror's DocumentRoot.
11. Run the indexer:
% cd /usr/local/mnogosearch/sbin
% ./indexer &
12. Edit your Apache's configuration file (httpd.conf).
Find the PHP.net's mirror VirtualHost definition. Append to it the following:
Alias /search/ /usr/local/mnogosearch/bin
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi
13. Restart your Apache:
% apachectl stop
% apachectl start
14. Now try http://yourmirror.php.net/search/search.cgi
:)
15. If it all works, set a cron job to automatically index the site every once
in a while. The following example will run once a week at 2:10AM.
Edit /etc/crontab, and add in the end:
10 2 * * 0 root /usr/local/mnogosearch/sbin/indexer > /dev/null 2>&1
-=[ The End ]=-
