Those lists you mention are not open for the public, they are
exclusively for inhouse use. But the messages you post, are public of
course (like this one), archived in public archives, available via news,
etc. So there would be no use of removing your email from our "safe
list" in relation with preventing you to get more spam. Remember that if
you post anything with any of your mail addresses to some public place,
then that email address will be available for spammers to collect...
Maybe somewhere at php.net it should say that mailing lists are public and that spam bots can grab your email address.
then you should be able to say after complains.. "We've told you.."
just 1 out of 10000 ideas.....
Saying that mailing lists are public would be something like warning users that the computer is broadcasting their email addresses on the net :) [I guess you have seen these ads]. Anybody can follow those instructions to subscribe to a mailing list, a crude person too, with bad intentions. That is the same like "going to a bank, you risk meeting gunmen trying to rob the bank". That is not written to the banks door, because it is obvious that gunmen can go in just like everybody else.
The only non-obvious thing is our webmaster@php.net address, but the only place it is disaplyed, we have a note on this:
