The publishers of <a href="http://www.phparch.com">php|architect</a>,
the monthly magazine dedicated exclusively to the world of PHP, have
announced the availability of a <a
href="http://www.phparch.com/print">print edition</a> of their
publication. Subscriptions are now available at a special introductory
price for readers worldwide.
I think the last line should go out, they can read that on the website,
and IMO it's our job to announce something new, not to promote price schemes. Perhaps change it to "See the website for more information on how to subscribe".
Just to put your comment into perspective, some excerpts from existing news items:
| PHPCon East has discounts for early registration, students,
| non-profits, and Tutorial/Conference packages. Early Bird Deadline is
| March 31st. For more program information, visit the PHPCon website.
Another one on the Intl. conference:
| Early bird registration will end on 7th of October. Students and
| private persons get special discounts.
I also remember having a quite agressive news item on discounted prices for the Amsterdam conference, which I have removed when it went out of context:
| <h1>International PHP Conference - Spring Edition Early Bird Discount
| runs out!</h1>
|
| <p>
| <font class="newsdate">[09-Apr-2003]</font>
| April 15, 2003 will be the last day to get the very cheap
| early bird discount for your participation at the International
| PHP Conference in Amsterdam on May 8 and 9, 2003.
| </p>
|
| <p>
| <a href="
http://www.phpconference.com">Sign up now</a> and save
| 100 EUR! Meet PHP programmers from all over the world and learn
| the latest stuff on PHP from internationally acclaimed speakers.
| </p>
In the sense that we had provided space for the European and US conferences to inform people on discounts, it is not clear to me, why not provide this opportunity to others too? Also taken into account that the last sentence is far not that agressive as some I have cited above.
