Hi Joshua!
I'm really really really really frustrated with a change that's been made to the site. I used to be able to type in an url like http://www.php.net/imagegetsize for example... and even though that's not a real function, your smart PHP.net search engine would normally return something similar enough to it that I could usually find what I was really looking for. Go to that url now. Google says: Your search - imagegetsize site:www.php.net - did not match any documents. No pages were found containing "imagegetsize" . Greeeaaat. THAT'S certainly useful. PLEASE reinstate the old functionality. One of PHP's greatest strengths has been its documentation. The number one reason I quit using Perl and switched to PHP is because I could never FIND the answers I was looking for amongst all the Perl detritus on the web, whereas php.net made it so easy for me.Those short URLs that our system is unable to match to a function or some other shortcut type, were redirected to a site search *all the time*, since this feature is in place AFAIK. The only change was that we replaced our own site search with Google *temporarily*. We are working on providing a better manual reading experience for our users and that includes a new local search feature on all mirror sites. But we need some time to do this. There are no paid people at php.net, we are working as a community. Please accept that everybody here has a family, and a job, which allows them to devote some time to this project, and pay the bills. If you would like to find close matches for mistyped function names, use the box on the top of all pages, and set the dropdown to "function list". This will initiate a search in the function list.
