I just noticed the new favicon on www.php.net, and Goba's CVS update on Aug 7.
"Replace unclear favicon with a new image provided by
an enthusiast bug reporter (#23558)"
Well, IMHO, the new icon is indeed more readable, but really doesn't look like the PHP logo at all. I'd prefer something that was closer to the PHP logo ... even just a purple oval with no text in it.
IMHO the colors and the php name is better then some oval without text. This favicon resembles the font of the logo, and the color. And it is more readable. IMHO it looks better in bookmarks listings and on the personal toolbar in the browser too. The oval version had a white background behind, which was not that nice IMHO.
I'm sharing Collin's mind, the favicon doesn't corrspond to the PHP Logo. What about turning the "font" used italic and bold (to have less white and more black) ?
I cannot help in creating this. I am not a graphics artist. I think this one is better then the one I have replaced it with, and I am unable to produce any other alternatives, so I decided on settling on the one which seemed to be better.
