Derek,
The community link means alot to me. It's a form of recognition and it will
allow our site to appear to at least be more acknowledged by php.net. I've been
trying to find ways to contribute back to PHP as much as possible (even more
than I already am) and Goba appears to take me and our site as a joke and shows
nothing but disinterest. It's very discomforting and I'm shocked.
What mechanisms do you use to add a site to the Community Links section? I
don't see how our site should not be listed but yet the PHP Developer Network
does, but I didn't want to mention that.
Would it make any difference if I made a cash donation to the PHP foundation?
I'm willing to do what it takes to get more recognition from you guys. It
shouldn't have to come down to that, but jeesh, if that's what it takes.
I understand that bug reporters can be quite nasty. I'm not a bug reporter, I'm
a person who dedicates more than my life to PHP and all that you do. I'm a true
PHP Freak. I'm trying my best to ensure I help new people gain interest in PHP
and help PHP take over as the primary scripting language on the internet, even
if that's not your intentions. However, I feel that I'm the 'bastard child' of
PHP and you guys look down on me and our site because for some reason which I
can't understand. I don't know what I did to get this reputation, or why, but
that's the impression I get.
All I'm asking for is a little support and acknowledgement from PHP for all the
hard work I have done and will continue to do. Nobody asked me to work my arse
off like I do, but I feel obligated by a community now to do so, and I can't
let these people down.
In my recent dealings with Goba, I've offered to run an official PHP.net mirror
in the US, and he declined, I asked for a link and he declined. I'm more than
willing to bend over backwards and sideways for you guys, but it's as if I or
my community is not good enough. It's just outright sad.
Regards,
Eric 'phpfreak' Rosebrock
