I've finally added this book, can you check if I didn't do mistakes ? For the picture, I've have added it using cvs add -kb, maybe you need to specify this explicitely in the howto (or maybe I'm wrong and there's no need to say that it's a binary file).

The image file extensions are automatically detected and -kb is used for them. Here are the files treated as binary by default: http://cvs.php.net/co.php/CVSROOT/cvswrappers

Should I mail back the author to greet him ?

IMHO it is good practice to do so.
