Hi Kaan!
I recently subscribe to your mailing list concerning PHP scripting problem. Soon after subscribing I started receiving lots of emails from other companies ALL with VIRUS's in them. I have tried to unsubscribing using the form on your site but I'm still receiving emails. The emails I am receiving do not seem to be part of you mail lists which makes me think that my details have been passed on to a 3rd party, which is unacceptable. This is an example of one the emails I received this morning with the W32.Swen.A@mm virus. All of our mailing list traffic is public. Many mailing lists are publicly archived (you can see links on the mailing list page to those archives), plus there are also other places where mailing list archives exist. Additionaly to this, the mailing lists are free to subscribe, we cannot check whether a subscriber is a machine collecting email addresses or a human. There can also be human subscribers infected by some virus, which selects random destinations from the users mailbox. If you have posted to the mailing list, then you will most probably get Virus mail this way (as your mail most probably ended in some human mailboxes on machines infected by some viruses). As you can see, this stuff is out of our control, we cannot do anything about it. We try to do our best to obfuscate email addresses in our public arhives (eg. http://news.php.net/), but there are several possibilities above, which we have no control of. You need to have some actual virus protection software anyway. GobaFrom mailerprogram@freemail.comTo: receiver@mxserver.com Subject: -MS Inet Email Delivery System Please note that I know that the emails I'm am receiving are exclusively because of signing up with your mailing lists as I used a dedicated email address just for the mailist purpose, thinking that I would be able to block anything coming in heading newsmail@dismagwa.com if anything would go wrong. Please can you take the correct action to rectify this problem, as I can't afford to infect my computer or any of my clients computers with any type of virus!
