Everything works well when all is well. But this doesnt solve purpose of mirrors. Imagine there is a problem in infrastructure, both your mirrors on same network with same company will go down. Does it solve purpose of mirroring? If you mean Load sharing, that fine. But not mirroring. Mirroring is usually taken as parallel site running on different infrastructure. Anyways... I am very much disappointed by the reasoning which doesnt justify.
As I have expressed here before, I don't like the situation of having two mirrors hosted by the same company (idependently of what company it is or what country the mirrors are). I also expressed similar possible problems you outline above. *But* I am not *the person* to decide, but *one person* to express his opinions. So far only negative comments arrived on my opinion, so I need to take it that it is not in line with the imaginary "community viewpoint".... My reasoning was based on principles (it is very much odd to have two mirrors hosted by the same company). The reasons against my viewpoint were expressed from the technical perspective. I cannot argue with that, as I need to acknowledge that the Indian mirrors were perfectly working all the time, and there were no problems with them. I don't see any chance on my part that I can change my principle based viewpoint, and I acknowledge the technical viewpoint of those who argue, so I can see that both of the sides are somewhat right. But also note that we have a rule of only accepting two official mirrors per country, which I don't think we have any reason to exceed for India. (Note: The admins of in(2).php.net and the two proposed mirrors compeeting to get id2.php.net also cc-ed, please use "reply all" when replying so everyone will be at least able to reply). Goba
