URL Includes in PHP4.3.3

I previously had PHP version 4.1.0 and including files from URL's
worked, ie. The URL "http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?page=about.php"
would include "about.php" in "index.php". But after upgrading to
PHP4.3.3 this does not appear to work, I am using this code:

{
if(file_exists($page))
{
include($page);
}
else
{
include("home.php");
}
}
?>
I am very confused as to why the URL does not transfer to the PHP
variable. I have even tried echo($page); but this still brings the same
error:
Notice: Undefined variable: page in i:\www\index.php on line 149
Please help me..
