Hi Andrea! Thanks for the positive feedback. That JS file is not encrypted, but it is *compressed*. These are not the same of course. The JS can be decompressed easily (otherwise the browser would not be able to run it). Our compressor / decompressor is available on the CVS server as explained on the search page. And as it is also detailed, we are not providing support for that (regardless of who asks the questions :). Have a good time with PHP, Gabor Hojtsy Andrea Ambrosio wrote:
    Dear Webmaster,
first of all, congratulation for the attractive design and perfect functionality of php.net web site.
I'm an Italian PHP-enthusiast since two years and I dropped by your search page search.php: I was really astonished by the auto completion feature of the menu. What stroked me more is not the Javascript, which I can some what figure-out, but the strange encoding technique of the JS-file itself!!
I accessed the CVS and download the Javascript code, but I can't nevetheless understand which utility you used for encoding this way a JS code portion.
I have to specify I love open source projects (I'm using ONLY PHP, not ASP, right? :-) ) and so I know it make little sense to hide JS code: but the only reason which I'm looking an JS encrypter for is that of providing some kind of customers a demo of my javascript works!! ;-)
So I kindly ask you if you can provide me some information on this technique (one web link on it will be great!), so that I can figure out how it works.
I know I'm wasting your time which must be devoted to mantain the web site of the most wonderful scripting language ever devised and not to assist medium-level programmer like me, but I nevertheless hope you will answer me!
Waiting for a kind reply of yours, I remain with
    Best regards.
