Dear Rasmus,
I understand your position and appreciate your prompt response. What I
learned from our exchange is that:
1. We need to better clarify our licensing agreement to eliminate any doubt
on how the ThoutTReader can be used. This will be done prior to our July
27th launch.
2. We have set a very high mark on a concept that has never been done
before. If the developer response from the MySQL convention is any
indication of the acceptability of the ThoutTReader, then we expect to meet
and exceed your requirement to be listed on your site. Let's see what the
next 6-12 months will bring. Our initial launch and distribution effort
begins on July 27th. In the meantime, we will champion PHP from our website
and provide vertical content (PHP books) in the ThoutTReader format to
supplement it.
Thank you very much for your feedback. It only makes us better.
Mark

Well, actually, I couldn't care less how you plan to make money. The fact
is that you are a for-profit company trying to use PHP to establish a
market for yourselves. I have no problem with companies trying to make
money from things, but I don't see why we should spend any effort at all
on your behalf. We answer to our users and not a single user has ever
asked for our documentation in your format, so why should we do anything
here? If and when your stuff catches on and there is demand from us to do
something, we will have a look at it. For now as far as I can tell you
have already converted our docs and make it available from your web site,
so that seems like it would satisfy people who actually use your reader
and want to see the php docs in your format.
