Hi Kenneth,
I’m looking into providing an unofficial mirror of the English documentation pages only. I’m a starting ASP, and believe by providing such a mirror I can provide a better service to my clients. The mirror will be open to the public and will be available under a yet unknown sub-domain of clearplanet.co.za. Are there any restrictions that might apply in this case? All our restrictions are outlined on the mirroring page. We would only like to protect our rsync server from being overloaded.
I’ll be running the rsync update only once in 48 hours. Is this not enough or more than adequate? What is frequency of updates to the documentation? I do not want to put any unnecessary strain on both my servers and yours. The documentation updates are going to be done weekly in the future (they were done in uncertain times recently).
Can I block IP’s not from South Africa to save bandwidth? I’ll be showing an information page with an explanation of what is happening and why their blocked with options of visiting one of the two official South African mirror sites.Feel free to block IPs, since you are not an official mirror. Regards, Gabor Hojtsy
