Bug Type: Website problem
Operating System: Macintosh OS9.2
PHP Version: Irrelevant
New Comment:
For now, go to http://php.net/my , section "Search field
suggestions"
and check the "hide" box.
Webmaster: we should either maintain a list of non compatible browsers
or disable the feature by default (and maybe add a small icon near the
search field to activate it). Opinions ?

Description:
------------
Up until your recent update of PHP.net (over Christmas
2004/05) I have always accessed the site without
problems using Internet Explorer 5.1 on Mac OS9.
Now visiting any page on the site causes IE to hang,
and eventually I have to force quit it. It seems to be a
script/plugin problem, since turning off scripting and
plugns allows the pages to be viewed. Often it appears
to hang when downloading certain images (at least
images such as 'box' are in the status bar when the
browser hangs) but no page elements are loaded at all
and the hang is total.
I can still view the site on Netscape versions available
for Mac OS9, but not on IE, and I would really love to be
able to do so again!
