Greetings, While we are interested in mirroring PHP officially, as we do with many large open source projects including python, cygwin and others, and since we do provide this "service" free of charge, and as a support for PHP users, we found it's silly to be offended by a member of your team named "Gabor Hojtsy" just for purposing to be listed as an official mirror in the US, instead of being unofficial for over two weeks now. It's a strict rule not to have more than two mirros per country, also the US has four official mirrors so why we cant be the fifth? The reason stated in the mirroring page, which is to prevent the load on your rsync servers is in question? We mirror the whole PHP website using your rsync servers already, and we made sure that the mirroring process takes place in idle hours in the US, not to mentiond that our rsync was modified to rsync-nice to decreas the load on the rsync servers of the mirrored projects to the most extent. This message was not intended to attack "Gabor" nor it was intented to attack the generous people behind the PHP project. We simply ask for the permission to be official, or at least a good reason for why we cant be so. Is this too much to ask for?We simply don't need more mirrors in the US. It is adequately covered. If we start getting user complaints that the existing mirrors are not serving their needs we will make an effort to either get some more or replace the existing ones. We actively track our official mirrors making sure they are up to date, configured correctly and responding. The more mirrors we have, the more work that entails. Having 2 mirrors per country for most countries with the odd exception here and there for the larger countries has proven to work very well for us and our users. -Rasmus
