From: magicaltux at gmail dot com Operating system: Irrelevant PHP version: Irrelevant PHP Bug Type: Website problem Bug description: "Best" download link for PHP Description: ------------ Currently, in the "get" url handler we have : http://xx.php.net/get/php-x.x.x.tar.bz2/from/a/mirror http://xx.php.net/get/php-x.x.x.tar.bz2/from/this/mirror http://xx.php.net/get/php-x.x.x.tar.bz2/from/xx.php.net/mirror I think it would be interesting to add a handler to select the "best" mirror for the user... http://xx.php.net/get/php-x.x.x.tar.bz2/from/best/mirror This would select a random mirror in the same country as the user, or if no country information is available for the user's IP it would fall back to "this". This would help applications automatically downloading PHP to easily get PHP version.
