Need help with codepages

Dear All, I’m working on a product database for our company. Also our Russian partners should work with this system. When I use codepage windows-1251 the Russian language is correctly displayed, but when it’s saved to the mySQL Database something wrong is saved (like this: îïøëðë). The column for the Russian language is set as “latin_swedish_ci”. If I copy the Russian text from the website and paste it directly in the column in phpmyadmin it’s saved correctly! Hope you can tell me what to do!
