Good to see that we are making progress in realizing bad trends :) The events were supposed to cover these types of conferences too, only CFPs are not possible to express there IMHO. Maybe the event display interface should be made better looking, so that it is more attractive to post these kind of announcements. It is also already displayed in a sidebar (and should be made available as RSS, as suggested before :) Then once our homepage is reclaimed, it would be good to encourage information flow, so that announcements and news from the various php.net groups can be displayed. Like plans for PHP 6, PEAR releases, the "new" PECL-win site, the new search features :) these all went unannounced. I am truly feeling the strain of the regular fights for php.net homepage placements. Gabor On Tue, 28 Feb 2006, Rasmus Lerdorf wrote:
Could we do a little brainstorming on coming up with something to reclaim our www.php.net front page? It has been mostly conference announcements for the past couple of years, and while it is good to get the word out on those, I don't like that they make up the bulk of the real estate on the page. Perhaps a separate conference announcements page with a much shorter blurb in the main area there. Or maybe a sidebar list with them? -Rasmus
