1) Why have you let me write for an hour to stop me at the end? Couldn't you just say my address is listed ***BEFORE*** I started wasting my time?
The process that blocks you is not necessarily the one that accepts your form input. Yes, I guess it could be made a bit smarter.
2) Most of the blocking lists list my IP as just "Dynamic IP", or as subject to/author of spam mailing. Don't you think this should have nothing to do with *FORM* filling. Nowhere it says *form* spamming attacks have started from this address.
3) Don't you think totally blocking an address just for being listed as a maybe-spammer is a bit too quick? Personally I'd like more 10 criminals out of jail than any innocent man inside. I do hate all forms of spamming, but maybe you could review someone's post before totally closing communications (maybe you could perform a double, more serious, SPAM Challenge)
Form spam is an increasing problem. If an address is listed as a spammy address, we don't want to have to deal with what is likely to be spam. PHP is a project based on the effort of volunteers. It's easier for us to cut out spam at submission time than have someone go through and audit all submissions, particularly if we are victimized by an automated spam attack. Another point that you might be missing here is that we are consuming third party block lists. We didn't decide that you were a spammer; a number of others reported some issue with the IP address that you are currently using. I don't think you realize the scale of the problem and the limited human resources that the PHP project has. If you're prepared to spend 30 minutes writing a note, why not contribute to the PHP manual directly? --Wez.
