Edin,
unfortunately we haven't met in person, but from my experience
with organizing the International PHP Conference for the last
7 (!) years, let me say that these Conferences are one of those
rare moments where people like PHP Core Developers can meet in
person.
I remember very well the meetings about the initial PDO meeting
happening on the International PHP Conference - well, those developers
gave some sessions for the audience, but they got their flight and
accomodation paid, so it's both a win-win situation.
If you comprise this into the current discussion, saying something
like "that is relevant for a couple dozen people at most" is not
a very sophisticated point.
