Re: new mirror site

Hi Hannes, We have done it on http://php.fubra.com now our sponsor image has been uploaded to http://php.fubra.com/backend/mirror.gif as per the instructions I hope this image is ok as it is an animated gif. Please find below details about the mirror:

    *   Your country.

United Kingdom (UK)

    * The xx.php.net address you used to set up the mirror site, which you obtained previously in a conversation with the mirror admins.

uk3.php.net.

    * Your name and email address to be registered as the admin of the mirror.

Brendan McLoughlin <mirror@fubra.com>

    * A hostname that we can use as a CNAME for the country-code-based name of the mirror (the.cname.you.set.up.example.com in the above setup example). Using a name means you can move the mirror to another IP address without coordinating with us at all.

php.fubra.com.

    * Whether or not you've installed local stats support on your mirror.

Yes; http://php.fubra.com/stats/

    * The name of the hosting company.

Fubra

    * The URL of the hosting company. This link is provided with the company's name at the bottom of pages, with the sponsor image on the frontpage and in the mirror listing.

http://www.fubra.com/ If you can let me know when you go live or if there are any issues that would be great. I also wondered if it would be possible to appear on http://www.php.net/thanks.php with a link to our site as well as the thanks to list on the home page? I understand if not but thought I would ask anyway in case you can. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there are any problems. Best regards, Brendan Hannes Magnusson wrote:

Hi Brendan You have a couple of good points there, especially #3 - but we didn't have any other option at the time. Anyway. We appreciate your offer and welcome you as the third mirror! Please let us know when its up & running so we can test it prior to registering it. -Hannes On 3/2/07, Brendan McLoughlin <brendan@fubra.com> wrote:

Dear Webmaster, I would first just like to say I have read the mirroring.php web page and I would still like to request to be a 3rd php mirror for the UK. I do realise you have a limit in place of 2 mirrors per country with good reasons but thought it was worth asking if you would like us to be a third for the following good reasons: - We have developed in PHP for over 6 years now and as a company would really like to give back to the project if we can. - We are a multi-site hosting company with RIPE membership and experience of hosting several very high traffic web sites and a network receiving over 3 million UK visitors per month so we have good connectivity and highly reliable enterprise grade server solutions. - As both mirrors are provided by the same company currently whilst they might be technically redundant they are not administratively and if you were to allow us to host a 3rd mirror you would achieve administrative redundancy which could be important in the event the current company has financial or other difficulties. We are also present in geographically separate data centre locations from the current mirrors. - As the UK is a higher traffic country perhaps a 3rd server may help users access the data on your site more quickly and ease the bandwidth on the current mirrors. I shall await your decision on this matter with interest and do hope that you choose to permit us to help and create and host uk3.php.net. Whatever you decide thanks for running such a great project you have really made a huge impact on the lives of everyone involved in our company. With best regards,
