Hello all, All countries have two mirrors except AU, DE, and UK with three. This is a proposal for additional US mirrors and here's why: - We only have two US mirrors There is US2, and US3, but no US. And although WWW is in the US, it's not a mirror. For example, WWW is not an option at php.net/my.php (but shouldn't be) so the location of WWW should not matter for mirrors. - US mirror use far exceeds all others The UK mirror, likely the most popular non-US mirror, gets ~8000 visitors daily whereas US3 hovers around 25000. When a US mirror goes down, like currently, this difference becomes much greater. - Proposal Immediately add one US mirror (to fall in line with AU/DE/UK) but eventually have more... how about five.
I think five is little excessive, but I don't mind one more. We actually have an outstanding mirror request in US but I can't seem to find it in my mailbox... :( And on that note; we need a better way to deal with mirror requests. I'll make some basic system for it "tomorrow" :) -Hannes
What do you guys think of this? Regards, Philip
