Hi all
Attached are couple of patches (one against master, the other against
phpweb) for a new news system as promised (3months to late, sorry).
How it works:
All news (cfp, conference announcements, frontpage...) are stored in a
Atom feed located in phpweb/archive/YYYY.xml which is parsed on master
which creates phpweb/feed.atom (copy&paste),
phpweb/include/pregen-news.inc and phpweb/include/pregen-confs.inc
The phpweb/include/pregen-news.inc file contains a giant associative
array with the keys "frontpage" & "conferences".
phpweb/index.php loops then over the "frontpage" array and
phpweb/conferences/index.php over the "conferences".
The phpweb/archive/2007.php page will combine those two and print all
news items ordered correctly by date (like how the old frontpage
looked like).
phpweb/include/pregen-confs.inc will only get populated by cfp and
conferences which aren't over yet (specified by <php:finalTeaserDate
/> in the feed).
Master will continue to create the legacy RSS feeds via the
legacy_rss() function.
Most of you should know the atom format but I will provide a atom
entry skeleton and README file explaining how stuff works.
So. Comments? Objections?
If not, I'd like to commit this on Wednesday/Thursday.
Love,
Hannes
