I think it is a smart move and the question is not „why” but „why so late”. There are more pros than cons over it. But please let us still mirror php.net. I remember starting the mirror not because of fame of being national mirror but... because php.net was down for a day and our php programers had a problem :) Any way, please keep in mind that you can still count on us in terms of infrastructure (vps/band/etc).
