Mojojojo crashed because FRII lost power for the third time in less than a year... All of the colocated servers crashed. They appear to have had a power surge when things came back online as some of mojojojo's hardware is fucked. Sid is currently trying to bring the box back to life. Sid knows more about Unix than damn near anyone I know. He has been working on the box for over a day. He says its the longest it has ever taken him to get a box back online and I dont doubt it. Anyway, it being down has fucked up your mail & sites, my mail & sites, Indymedia streaming radio, KDE, PHP, and a bunch of other mirrors (more than I can even remember right now...). Kev: after thinking about it, it is also the reason you cant use the Internet from some machines at home, as they are using it for DNS. Needless to say, its a drag for a lot of people that use the box. Soooo...Hopefully Sid will be able to get things running again in the next 24 hours. We are hoping that there isnt any data loss. If there isnt, soon enough, things will be fine again. If there is, you will have to restore your sites from your backups. Whoops, you dont have any. I have backups of all of your sites on my machines at home, but unfortunately I cant get to the backups right now (I have weird passwords that I cant get to work on these Spanish keyboards!). I also have multiple copies of backups of your sites on mojojojo itself, so if there is only partial corruption, Ill probably be able to restore from those. If Sid gives up (which for him will be the first time), your sites are basically gone until I come back to the US, which may be never. ;) I doubt this will happen. Anyway, I think things will get back online and be fine soon enough. All this shit has got me thinking. I dont want to run servers any more. Fuck this. I have been dealing with phone companies, tech companies, crashed computers, etc. for waaaaay too long. Im done. Sooo, it looks like its time to find new homes for your sites, sorry to say. Sorry to unload this on you. Ive been kicking around the idea of never touching a keyboard again and having a ceremony of tech-destruction...Does the reservoir still have water in it? Later, -Jeff Moe, writing from Chiapas P.S. If you have stuff on the server in the UK, its fine. If things seem flakey with it, its probably due to primary DNS being on mojojojo. Ill eventually be ditching that server too... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Greetings! http://greetings.yahoo.com
