Hi,
I found something strange when I tried to download the latest version of
php from my mirror (fr2.php.net). I used wget to do it :
ftp:~# wget http://fr.php.net/do_download.php?download_file=php-4.2.0.tar.bz2
--16:05:10-- http://fr.php.net:80/do_download.php?download_file=php-4.2.0.tar.bz2
=> `do_download.php?download_file=php-4.2.0.tar.bz2'
Connecting to fr.php.net:80... connected!
HTTP request sent, awaiting response...
And then it stopped for more than a minute before starting to download the
file. First I thougt I had a problem with my mirror, but that was the case
on any mirror I tried.
I then went to see what was exactly in do_download.php, and I saw that it
was making a connection to www.php.net :
$remote_log =
@fopen("http://www.php.net/log_download.php".
"?download_file=" . urlencode($download_file).
"&mirror=" . urlencode($SERVER_NAME).
"&user_referer=" . urlencode($HTTP_REFERER).
"&user_ip=" . urlencode($remote_addr),
'r');
I commented the line, and tried wget again, and the download was
immediate.
Did I make or mistake when configuring my mirror or is this normal ? In
the last case I don't see the usefullness of having mirrors if you have to
connect to the main site even if you are downloading from a mirror site.
