As described more times below be careful using the ntwdblib.dll shipped with php.
Getting problems to connect to the mssql-server
although the port ist reachable using a telnet connection copy ntwdblib from the sql-server-host
\windows\system32 to php\dll.
Using the zend-studio environment with apche installation during zend-install copy it to your
zend-directory\studioserver\php.
Restart your apache - retry to connect - be glad ;-))
