I wasted a good hour or two on solving this: no matter what I did, the output of my test php script
(phpinfo()) would show that the php.ini file path was "C:\windows" -- this is apparently a
secret code word for "the php ini file was not found at all". My php.ini file was in my
PHP install directory, which I called "C:\php-5.1.2" If I placed the php.ini file in
C:\windows, then I would just get a blank white page when I tried to run the test.php script. Wow,
ok...
These were my two mistakes...if you can call them mine, I blame Apache 2.0 for this lameness:
* In httpd.conf, make sure your PHPIniDir directive comes before your LoadModule to load the PHP
module.
* You have to specify the path in quotes, and NOT have a trailing backslash. Either of these
things ruins it (silently).
Example of correct httpd.conf:
# PHP stuff:
PHPIniDir "C:\PHP-5.1.2"
LoadModule php5_module "C:\PHP-5.1.2\php5apache2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
