Note Submitter: kraftb at kraftb dot at ---- Hello ! I noticed that the offline manual from a location like: http://at2.php.net/get/php_manual_en.tar.gz/from/at.php.net/mirror Is not really nice formatted (doesn't have the usual style from php.net) and it doesn't contain this nice "upper level" menus on the left of a manual page which I really like for browsing the different functions of a PHP module/function group. So I wrote a script which downloads the english manual, unpacks it. performs preg replaces on every file (it inserts the stylesheet <link>'s and at the bottom of the file a div containig the content of the upper level document and if you also have the "extension" installed and properly configured it will also include a interface to your local htdig server for searching the manual) I tried to be cool and create the script so it fits on my 1280x1024 screen on a single page. So I had to do some bad looking combination of code lines to get it into this space :) ... take it or leave it: Note the additonal #!/usr/bin/php in the first line as it's a commandline (cli) php script (you could possibly get it to run via the webserver). Here's the script: (Oops. No long notes. So heres a link: http://think-open.org/kraftb/style.php ) This is(should be) the "basic" script. Name it as you like ("style.php" is prefered :) and then run it in some temporary directory (which doesn't contain a directory named "html" or "php_manual"). When the script has run through you will end up in the php_manual/ subdir. As I said you can also put this script into the same directory as the above and name it "extend_htdig.php" (this is required). Heres the code (this time no #!) http://think-open.org/kraftb/extend_htdig.php The result will look like : http://think-open.org/kraftb/php_manual/
