er, PHP *is* an acronym, that when pronounced as a word sounds like "poop"
Acronyms that sound good pronounced as words (NASA, SCUBA, RADAR) are pronounced as words, acronyms
that don't (PVC, PHP, TMBG), aren't.
> Abbreviations (when standing for multiple words) are pronounced as
> letters, for example: IBM, CIA, and PHP.
abbreviations are shorter forms of one word generally:
Abbr, Dr, St and have nothing to do with the construct "PHP"
Hopefully that clears up any misconceptions about whay "PHP" is linguistically :)
