well, i have installed apache 2.2 and mysql 5.0.18 until now all works perfect on my mandrakelinux
10.1...You must install mysql first before php and put "./configure
--with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql"
