Just something that caused a blip:
The example of a double quoted random string seems to be single quoted, not double quoted.
What's double quoted is the html:
<?php
echo "<input type='hidden' value='" . htmlspecialchars($data) .
"' />\n";
?>
Should perhaps be
<?php
echo '<input type="hidden" value="' . htmlspecialchars($data) .
'" />\n';
?>
