Just realized that the function I posted above should have one small modification:
The line:
<?php
// add line to array, do an rtrim()
$open_data[$line] = rtrim(fgets($open, $buffer_size));
?>
Should probably be:
<?php
// add line to array, do an rtrim()
$open_data[$line] = rtrim(fgets($open, $buffer_size), "\n");
?>
