not strictly related to the headers function but anyway.....
"if a server's 404 page is shorter than a certain amount of characters, IE will display
its own 404 page."
This 'feature' had me completely confused for a while. I had a small 404 during testing
which simply echoed 'error'. Worked fine in firefox but not IE. I thought it was a problem
with my script! (annoying....) Anyway, in my research I found someone saying that to overcome this
problem you need a 404 page of 512 bytes or more. I can't confirm this figure but I increased
the size of my page and now it works fine.
