raccoon, thanks for that :)
If anyone thought their php wasn't working and were only using <? phpinfo(); ?> should
check what raccoon said.
People who post their solutions to a problem should mention their OS version.
My particular setup was on XPSP2 and have php 5.1.2 installed manually and the vanilla setup
available from the apache foundation. (apache 2.0.55)
in my httpd.conf file:
-=-=-=-=-=-=
# configure the path to php.ini
PHPIniDir "c:/php-5.1.2"
# For PHP 5 do something like this:
LoadModule php5_module "c:/php-5.1.2/php5apache2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
-=-=-=-=-=-=
Some of you point out using a trailing '/' character has worked for you. I believe some of
you are absolutely wrong.
->Use '/' in your apache http file and use '\' in the settings for your
php.ini file.
The reason being is that, if PHPIniDir is incorrect, the chances are many lazy people out there
won't even bother to check that this doesn't actually fix the problem but rather makes the
compile-built in settings take over-- which is the reason why php "seems" to work.
Also, referring to what raccon has mentioned, this is absolutely true.
The built-in default refers to
"short_open_tag = On"
but check the php.ini file you're using, and it may very be that it is
"short_open_tag = Off" !
Many of you may be issuing "<? phpinfo(); ?>", in which wouldn't work with the
short_open_tag off. Some of you may have unfortunately fall into this trap! :/
On XP, I know that I the php.ini file needs to be readable from the apache server username. If you
don't know how to find this out, then set your php directory readable to 'Everyone'
(and make sure php.ini file has been applied to this)
Case 2:
=======
(on XP)
I don't know if anyone here decides not to use the php5apache2 module, but some collection of
info I've picked up is that running the cgi executable, you may want to check your registry
HKLM/SOFTWARE/PHP/ settings, and any PHPRC system variable when troubleshooting path settings.Also I
must add that you might want to be sure php.ini or the php directory have correct security
permissions, try setting it so that SYSTEM and apache-running user can read it.
