note 65336 added to ref.sockets

This may be too obvious to the experts here, but I would like to know the answer ... I am going to use the php socket to communicate with a VB.NET program in the remote server. Is it possible? I believe it is just text/binary communication once the connection is established. Your help would be really really appreciated.
