This ist not directly caused by the encoding but by the Byte Order Mark (BOM) which your Editor
places in the first byte of your file to make the chosen encoding clear. PHP currently has no
special handling for the BOM, so it passes this character to the User-Agent like any other
character. You should configure your editor to leave the BOM out and UTF-8 will work fine.
