In addition to Stefaano's note, it seems that htmlentities() works in php4 but not in php5.

// Some french chars, iso-8859-1
$txt=htmlentities("à â ä é è ê ë î ï ô ö ù û
ü");
print($txt);
?>
Results displayed at screen are the good ones in php4 but are wrong in php5.
Firefox 1.5.0.4, Mac OSX.
