Q: trying to install the pecl package APC fails with message
configure: error: installation or configuration problem:
C++ compiler cannot create executables
A: While the config.log showed some errors compiling CYGWIN and MINGW32
test programs (that is normal), the real reason for the failure was
at the end of the log: cc1plus not found
apt-get install g++
solved the problem.
