In my view, removing the magic_quotes feature is a big mistake. For anything involving a database, it is not only time-saving, but also guarantees failsafe behaviour. - With magic_quotes on, forgetting to call stripslashes causes, at worst, an ugly backslash in the middle of some text. - With magic_quotes off, forgetting to call addslashes causes, at worst, a database compromise. I know which I'd rather deal with! So, since it is going away, how do we code-around it? Is there a simple way to re-implement the feature? ---- Server IP: 85.116.0.130 Probable Submitter: 81.187.40.226 ---- X-Spam-Status: No, hits=3.1 required=5.0 tests=DATE_MISSING,FROM_NO_LOWER autolearn=no version=2.64 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/security.magicquotes.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/69187 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/69187 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/69187 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
