The manual says
"This extension has no configuration directives defined in php.ini."
and this is technically true, but to have the extension automagically loaded, php.ini will need a
line similar to
extension=fileinfo.so
In Windows, the module is probably called fileinfo.dll. (Remember to restart your web server after
editing php.ini.)
Alternately, see the docs for the dl() function to load at runtime.
