Use this to get a UTF-8 Unicode CSV file that opens properly in Excel: $tmp = chr(255).chr(254).mb_convert_encoding( $tmp, 'UTF-16LE', 'UTF-8'); $write = fwrite( $filepath, $tmp ); Use a tab character, not comma, to seperate the fields in the $tmp.
