I use PHP without Apache. Here's how:
1.) Get the PHP Zip file and unzip it.
2.) Save it to c:\php\
3.) Save your test file as c:\php\test.php
4.) Drop down to the console (run "command.com")
5.) Type cd\
cd php
to get to the PHP directory.
6.) Type php test.php > out.html
7.) Open out.html in your web browser.
Works fine.
