I have been using this trick in my C++ and Java code for some time, but I use a slight variation, as
follows:
//*/
This code is easy to turn into a comment.
//*/
You can write a single macro for the editor of your choice, to drop in a //*/ line of text. Such a
line is completely inoccuous, other than bloating the code, until and unless the initial slash
('/') is deleted. By taking advantage of the fact that the same line can act to start or
end a toggled block, or be totally ignored, you can drop these lines into your code anywhere at
anytime, without worrying or knowing which text sequence - starting or ending - you need.
