I love this documentation: It says UTF-8 is among the character sets supported by PHP 4.3 and above, right above the table of character sets. Then below, in a footnote, it says multibyte character sets are not supported for PHP versions < 5. Turns out the footnote is right. UTF-8 characters make this function puke all over the place with no way to turn off the error messages -- even though the result of the conversion is correct! -- with PHP 4.x. This was fixed in PHP 5 after a bug report, but the oh-so-brilliant developers didn't bother to backport the fix. I guess the claims that PHP 4.3 is UTF-8 compatible are a bunch of lies. ---- Server IP: 217.13.201.10 Probable Submitter: 80.129.108.69 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.html-entity-decode.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/72099 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/72099 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/72099 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
