Unlike earlier distributions, the default in 5.2 seems to have
short_open_tag = Off
in the php.ini file
This caused me a lot of irritation and wasted time as some pages worked and some didn't and I
was hunting through the server configuration to find out why.
With short_open_tag off, all your php secripts with
<?
// code
?>
won't work whereas
<?php
//code
?>
will work.
Do:
short_open_tag = On
Hope this saves someone out there a lot of wasted time
