On our server (FreeBSD) we just used the command:
<?php
$cmd = 'unzip -j test.zip';
exec($cmd);
?>
that worked fine (open the zip file and extracted the files within. Or is that just too simple? :-)
Note that you need to set the file permissions (see chmod). We wasted a lot of time there!
