Persistent connections are a great way to bring your server to its knees by eating all memory and
file descriptors, specially if you have a lot of small requests. If your DB daemon and your HTTP
daemon run on the same machine, it's better to use non-persistent connections, as the overhead
to create a link will be very small and you'll be able to serve MUCH more simultaneous requests
before swapping out like hell... :)
