Just realized I could have done all of that with only a few lines:
<?php
$s = "1,2,3,4,5";
$a = explode(",",$s);
$s = "'" . implode("','", $a) ."'";
print $s; //outputs '1','2','3','4','5'
?>
Hopefully I've saved some face... :S heh heh
